A long trip for me is 20 miles into town.
I apologize in advance for the crudity of the presentation of the thread. I am dog aarsed tired.
Because of the business that I’m in, I never plan for long trips, I just go on them. I have a fully packed suitcase with my passport on top of it at all times.
;-)
Prayers go out to all those who suffer and are laden.
we put the suit cases out about 7-10 days in advance and start putting stuff in. By the time we go to bed the night before the trip, we’re packed and the only thing laid out is what we need to travel with the next day, clothes, papers, onboard odds and ends.
I always wait until the last possible minute. Seems to work out fine for me.
I usually have a “gather day” about a week before the trip. That gives me enough time to get anything I need from the store. The day before is when I do my active packing.
When I use to travel overseas I would start packing (mentally) weeks in advance and put it all together at the last minute. I found that if I packed and repacked in my mind, making changes as needed, last minute packing gave me great confidence that I had everything I needed. Worked for me.
Wear one and bring two
shirts
pants
underwear
socks
jacket
shoes
You are set!
One word: Astroglide.
You’re saying people pack “ahead of time?”
Why on earth would anyone do that?
Why would I pack weeks in advance?
Bring 1/2 the clothes and twice the money.
I start a list on my phone of what to pack and then I pack using that list the day before. And no matter where I’m going and no matter for how long, I do my best to only take a carry-on sized suitcase. If there’s any way to do laundry where I’m going, I only bring three days’ worth of clothes. And I am a female, lol.
I’m compulsive, so I pack the day before a trip. My wife packs about an hour before departure.
ha. I just finished packing - leaving in the morning - nowhere exotic though.
Then again, I have not left the islands in over eight years, so no recent habit to relate to.
Mr. RR and I used to travel alot overseas. I learned how to pack.
Try to put everything in a carry-on or gate-checked bag. (Really no need to pay extra for checked luggage.)
Underpack!
Pick one color scheme.
Pack only non-iron clothing.
Instead of folding your shirts and slacks, lay them flat, roll the slacks, fold the arms in on the shirts and roll them. Fewer wrinkles that way. Take a small steamer with you.
Make a copy of your passport and put it in your carry-on. Keep the original passport with you.
Enjoy your trip.
I travel a lot and I always pack the night before.
I try to leave room in my carry on for new things I buy. It’s ok if your forget something, you can buy a new one where you are going. Make sure you have walking shoes and undies, the rest can be improvised.
