Windows 8 was sooo egregious to me that I bought a Mac and now run Windows 7 inside it.

When Windows 8 came out NO windows 7 computers were available - Microsoft changed that policy and there are plenty of Windows 7 computers available.

I needed a new computer during the Windows 7 blackout period and Apple got my business. Sure, I bought a full version Of Windows 7 so Microsoft did make money from me, but Windows 8 is frickin’ awful.

My computer clients who have Windows 8.0 run Classic Shell to emulate previous versions of Windows. it’s pretty good.
One client NEEDS IE 11 (only available on Windows 8.1 and Windows 7) and her machine refuses to update to 8.1 so she’s miffed.

Her friend, another client, just ditched her 2nd windows 8 computer for a MacBook Air, I enjoyed setting it up and delivering it to her. She’s happy and my other client is a bit jealous...

I run Ubuntu Linux and loaded Windows as a virtual machine. Now Windows runs faster than it did natively, that is, on the rare occasions I need to run Windows (only for iTunes). Cost of Linux: zero. Failures: zero.

My step daughter who runs her own IT business, has the same issues you are having. She advises Mac’s with a windows 7, running in the back ground. Our computer is a custom built by her gaming one, her dad plays at home casino games, and we have a lot of music and photos, Win 7, and unless forced to update, won’t. Will go to a Mac, which ever one she suggests when this several yr old dinosaur crashes. Thank GOD we do back up and Cloud.

My older Corolla was not blue tooth equipped. I was using a single ear bud with in line mike to drive some what hands free, and hear better. People think they can drive with both ears plug into their phone. Not legal, you have to hear ER vehicles outside your car.

But I ran into a big issue with my non blue tooth car, which gets about 100 miles on it a month, and new twin hearing aids. So I called At & T our carrier, and asked about an external unit I could use. They suggested Jabra Tour for which they wanted $80. Found one on Amazon Prime for $53. It solved that issue. Answers calls and makes them. Fits on the visor. Takes up to 2 users.

Why would you buy a IPhone 5, which has no memory card? When a Samsung Note 3, 5 in screen, lets you add up to 64 gig micro memory card? And you can turn off some of the crap you don’t use. Love the Task Killer.

I am always puzzled by the Windows 8 haters. Windows 8 is basically Windows 7 plus a few performance enhancements plus a “start screen” instead of a start menu plus a tablet friendly mode for apps that want to use that. You can still have your desktop just as before (sans start menu).

What is it about that which is “so egregious” to you? I generally want to understand what people find so objectionable.
