I was floored when I read Kevin Ward had enough pot is his system to be impaired. I don’t doubt he may have had metabolites of THC in his urine, but impaired? Most people who are stoned can barely get their pizza ordered let alone drive a Sprint car. That type of speed, moving objects, lights going by, etc. would seemingly be impossible for someone impaired by pot to process. If levels were high enough for him to be deemed impaired, perhaps he smoked a lot of weed and had built up a tolerance.

There was a study of pot use with pilots.(!) They used simulators. Studied the effects of pot smoking on making all of the quick and complex decisions in landing an aircraft. It was quite a long time after the last smoke that they were still “impaired” - meaning slower in their microsecond adjustments and decisions. They were still impaired 24 hours after a single joint.

“More worrisome, they all said they felt no effects of the drug.” (Including the guy that missed the runway altogether).
