The other aircraft should have been 2000 feet above or below your aircraft.
(IIRC - it's been 32years since I was Pilot-In-Command (PIC) and never at 37,000 feet, Flight Level (FL) 370)

It’s 1000’ nowadays with RVSM in most places. Used to be 2000 though as you said. Still would seem very close at 1000kts!

No, 1000 feet. East to West fly at even 1.000’s, wast to east at odd 1,000’s.
