It must be infuriating to see your great grandparents generation accomplish something much more advanced and greater than you know your generation will ever accomplish.
Shocker. Not. Now time to blow the “Truthers” out of the water. Then work on the Kennedy assassination conspiracists. They never heard of a lone gunman?
Whitey ain’t ON the moon anymore.
The moon is covered with titanium dioxide which is also used to make white paint.
From wiki
>>Titanium dioxide, also known as titanium(IV) oxide or titania, is the naturally occurring oxide of titanium, chemical formula TiO
2. When used as a pigment, it is called titanium white, Pigment White 6 (PW6), or CI 77891.
Classified reasons?
who KNEW google had been AROUND that Long??
this will doutbtless not take so log to germinate in the “minds” of the addled issue ridden conspiracy theorists who we can expect to launch a Google Moon Launch TRUTH site within mere HOURS
My nephew is a space junkie, and he told me about this fact of being able to see certain things on the moon surface. Fascinating!
It is claimed Christoper Columbus found a land he called "America".
It is a hoax. There is no such land-mass.
I believe that is Mars, but still...
Wasn’t clear on how the Russians tracked the moon landing, but it makes the deniers seem even more whacko with all that evidence from our main adversary.
Ironic that in 1959 the Soviets orbited a satellite around the far side of the moon (Lunik 1?) and gave every crater & feature on it a Russian or Marxist name.
And the Politburo would have seen little sense in getting to the moon second. Kind of like the race to the South Pole a century ago.
Last lunar mission was in 1972. Four decades plus ago.
Back in 1968, SCIENCE AND MECHANICS magazine had a series of articles “disproving” Russia’s first orbiting the earth.
They were not a good source for Science Their Mechanics were OK.
“As ancient astronaut theorists believe......”
How odd. It is one of the color white’s I use when I paint my paintings. Never knew that.
Interesting, thanks for the info:)
For us neogeezers it was our parents' generation, and yes, it infuriates me...
...until I remember that it took 100 years from Columbus to Roanoke, the main reason being that Europe was so busy trying to get rid of medieval tyrannies via the Reformation, that most people kept putting off the exploration of a vast land--not counting the Portuguese/Spanish competitive exploitation, of course, but then that was happening everywhere else as well, in Africa, India, and east Asia. We will be spending the better part of the 21st century too busy trying to get rid of our own medieval tyrannies, a job that will begin in earnest when President Cruz (or Walker, or Perry, or Palin) removes the impediments to American greatness that have been placed upon our society over the last generation.
The stars will still be there when we begin exploring them again--and if they aren't, that's OK too, because their replacement will be something infinitely greater, a new heaven and a new earth.
I ran across this the other day which describes how the astronauts used navigation on the moon with the help of clever engineers.

Interesting stuff.
