Does the USAF even had designated ground combat troops?
I had a beautiful pair of jungle boots. They were nearly rotted through.
No boots, but lots of thongs on the ground.

Depends on what you mean by generally. If you mean that the majority of the AF doesn't put boots in hostil territory, you'd be correct...but then again....most of those in the Army never end up there either.
If you mean it doesn't happen often, that would be wrong. AF TACP/JTAC para-weather...etc are usually there with the other special ops guys....before the first bomb drops. The advisors headed to Iraq will most likley be AF JTAC's...not Army Special OPS types.
And when Army guys get shot up behind enemy lines...its AF PJ's that go get them....save them...and fly them to the hospital.
