On the other bear attack thread, the nature pros in the field said bear spray is best.

Was bear spray attempted here?

This bear was very determined .. the attack lasted about an hour.

Little brass bells nor bear spray would not have much difference.

Lots of people denigrate the use of bear spray. I think it’s often a knee jerk macho reaction. A bears olafactory system is thousands of times more sensitive than a dog’s. I carry bear spray with me while bear hunting, along with a firearm.

12 GA. rifled slug in a Remington 870 with a 20 inch barrel. At that range, nearly foolproof. Very affordable and rugged too.
