Those in government consider us to be simply chattel to be exploited for their benefit, not ours. They consider the fruits of our labors to be theirs (how many times have you heard some government jackass say what a tax cut would cost) and anything that we're allowed to keep is a privilge granted by them to us.

Plus as can be seen by the last election over half of the electorate doesn't want freedom. They want loot, and they're to lazy to steal it for themselves, so they vote for the government/candidate who promises them the most plunder from the remining hard working Americans.
