I wonder why none of Larry Niven’s stuff ever made it to film (AFAIK). He has so much great material: Ringworld, The Mote in God’s Eye, and his Known Space series are all fun adventure stories that are very visual with really cool aliens.

I’d love to see a movie about any of those stories than the next tired retread of Star Wars VII or Star Trek XI or whatever.

The last I heard was that Ringworld was likely to be made into a miniseries (probably a good idea) by the SyFy Channel (probably a horrible idea). They’ll probably opt for cut-rate CGI and dumb down the plot.

Probably too smart. Lowest common denominator audience wouldn’t get it?

Give me a Niven or Vance over anymore Dick or Asimov or even ERB, much as I dig it.

I would love to see Fallen Angels make it to the big screen with the "Global Warming is a Huge Fraud" message still intact. BUT if it does so it will either be hacked to death by the Global Warming Crowd and the anti-global warming message totally reversed or be produced as a low budget "fleeing from the man" car chase movie.
