Next up: The ensign gets back to the ship with a giant jumping spider purring and chattering from a perch on the top of his head.

My alter ego did that for me, but yes, it’s a great idea! Because space is at such a premium here, I’ve found, since June 29th, that I can part with anything if I see the need. So far, I have sent four heaping pick-up truck loads to the thrift store, just because I don’t have room for it. I have also given away a table and a china hutch, as well as a file cabinet and an occasional table.
I can’t believe I’ve packed all this stuff around for 10 years.... It’s good to get rid of it!

What is an occasional table? It is only table occasionally? What is it when it is not table?

I don’t know why it’s called an occasional table. Unless, occasionally, it’s used in the hallway, and occasionally just behind the sofa...

Tables have found ways to propagate into other species of furniture. They are like cranberry juice that way.
There are chair-tables, sofa tables, end tables, hall tables. I think an occasional table is called that for those rare occasions when you need another table.
Even coffee tables are getting into the act; transforming from knee-knocking height to right up there where you can actually use it.

I have no end tables, hall tables, coffee tables or sofa tables. I am lucky to have a kitchen table, but it is small and insignificant.
Coffee tables, when I was growing up and had children of my own, served quite admirably as mini-dining tables for the younger kids....

"I have no end tables, hall tables, coffee tables or sofa tables." This is due, no doubt, to the fact that from time to time, you throw out the occasional table.

Out on their own, poor things.
They’re going to become feral, you know.

I guess occasional tables are used randomly where periodical tables are used at regarlar intervals. Round tables are a good place to talk.

I could barely make out the words.
“GreEtings. I aM enD taBlE 3#879b!”
It was a mobile, and feral, table!
Curse my luck, it had been a bad day to start.
Jenser was abducted by the potted plants right from the gate, and we had been tasked to retrieve him.
Preferably alive.
But we had been ravaged by a couch stampeed, and assaulted by lamps.
Dispersed and separated, I was alone.
And now being stalked by an end table.

It could be worse. Stay away from the drop-leaf and the claw-foot.
ThomasThomas brought in Periodical Tables. Just what we need; now they’re going nuclear!

I still haven’t figured out divan, davenport and sofas. I didn’t mention couch. But that is a large shel found on some beaches in the south.

"I didnt mention couch. But that is a large shel found on some beaches in the south." They must be very comfortable.
I've heard of people diving for them.
