The man suspected in Tuesdays triple homicide in Kansas City has been accused of murder before.
But in 2009, a Jackson County jury acquitted Brandon Howell of double murder charges in a high-profile case.
Now, five years later, Jackson County authorities say Howell is responsible for a shooting rampage in a quiet south Kansas City neighborhood.
Howell was charged Wednesday with three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Susan Choucroun, Darrel Hurst and Lorene Hurst, said Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker during a news conference. He was also charged with other counts related to Tuesday's shooting, including assault charges for the two other people shot in south Kansas City.

He only gets mad every 15 or 20 years. /S
Blame the Jackson County jury that acquitted him. Bring back the death penalty.
We only got rid of it because liberals, deny any God, any post-mortal existence, or any final judgment and so seek all justice and perfection here on earth.
They’re gods unto themselves and they reap misery wherever they go. It’s almost as if they’re devils instead.
“Its almost as if theyre devils instead.”
I believe they are.
Progs are always whining about poor, black males railroaded into prison or given the death penalty by racist, white juries. I don’t know the racial makeup of the jury that acquitted Howell, but it’s rare that a killer like Howell doesn’t have a long rap sheet. And of course, Howell has a very long, violent rap sheet.

Has any motive been announced?
Why?
He may not have committed the earlier murders. Or there may have been inadequate evidence to convict him, and the jury honorably so determined.
How can the public help law enforcement when a physical description is withheld to be as PC as possible?
The Amish description gives everyone in the path of the killer a fighting chance but it is withheld for political correctness, lest some group's feelings be harmed.
Yeah, you’re in my way and have what I want!
He was carjacking a jag and he couldn’t drive a stick.
When they charged Howell in 2006, prosecutors and detectives felt they had a strong case, based on evidence they had gathered and witness statements. One person picked Howell out of a police lineup, saying he had thrown Brewers burned purse in a dumpster. Other witnesses told police they heard confessions about the crime. One woman told detectives Howell had threatened her with a shotgun and said, "I'll do you like I did Tabby." According to court documents, the motive was money. Brewer had been awarded a $40,000 settlement from a car accident shortly before she disappeared. Police said she was unable to access the money because they were in a trust fund. Despite the case prosecutors built against Howell, the jury shocked the victims family members by finding not guilty of both murder counts.
I would bet it was a black majority jury...even if only a couple, they could prevent the conviction...
Missouri has the death penalty.
Seriously or sarc? If that's what he was doing, why did he shoot people?
Missouri has a Democrat nutcase for a governor. No Death Penalty will be enforced.
Kansas was also run largely by Democrats over the past 15-20 years (believe there was one Republican governor). Check crime stats and Democrat rule.
You’ll see the light.
“Too bad that the police & media refused to report his physical description while law enforcement searched for him.
How can the public help law enforcement when a physical description is withheld to be as PC as possible?”
I was recently discussing this phenomenon with a reporter for a local newspaper and he admitted that they by policy omit a black person’s race because they would have to hire another person just to monitor and delete all of the on line racist comments they would get. This unintentionally acknowledged the volume of black crime suspects that are reported and reports that need to be censored.
Because he’s evil and had a gun.
Funny how certain people can be accused of murder over and over. Here I am,a fella more than old enough to remember dial telephones, black & white TV and Green Stamps, and all I’ve had is one traffic ticket in my life, and I fought that one in traffic court and won.
There have been 11 executions since Nixon became governor, 7 so far this year. Kansas hasn't executed anyone since they reinstated capital punishment.
