Notes: Teams in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will run the same tire set-up at Richmond this weekend . . . this is the first race at which either of these two tire codes have been run . . . this tire set-up came out of a Goodyear test at Richmond on July 8-9 . . . teams and drivers participating in that test were the #11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota with Denny Hamlin, #16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford with Greg Biffle, #26 BK Racing Toyota with Cole Whitt, #41 Stewart Haas Racing Chevrolet with Kurt Busch and #43 Richard Petty Motorsports Ford with Aric Almirola . . . compared to what was run at Richmond this spring, this left--side tire code (D-4632) features a mold shape change to add more stagger to this set-up . . . this right-side tire code (D-4634) features both construction and compound changes and is designed for better wear and the ability to lay down rubber . . . as on most NASCAR ovals one mile or less in length, teams will not run liners in their tires at Richmond.
