Saudi Arabia owns a shedload of hi res military hardware, including Eurofighters, why doesn’t it use its own military to defend itself I wonder? Unless of course it fears defection within its ranks.
Exactly. They have one of the biggest air forces in the region. Why aren’t they dropping bombs?
The Saudi king remembers the Assassination of Anwar El Sadat, killed by his own troops during a military parade, after a fundamentalist cleric proclaimed a fatwa on him.
There has been a U.S. Air Force base over there in Saudi Arabia, SOMEWHERE in the north of the country, since the late 70's or early 80's. We were over there 1980-84 and knew this. FIVE long years. The U.S. base may actually be closer to Basra in Iraq. We never knew for sure, but we DID see one our own aircraft carriers once at the east side of the Gulf.
The K.S.A hired Koreans to defend its country. Back then they used RAY DIK DAE LIM. They were OBVIOUSLY more than construction workers in the petroleum/natural gas business because they were all EXTREMELY FIT, young and had an attitude. They were also VERY SHORT. Our men and they had a "fun" softball game once. Lol. They didn't have a clue, running from first to third base, but they had a great time. It was nice to see them LAUGH and enjoy themselves for a bit.
They were South Korean army regulars doing double duty: construction for ARAMCO (Arabian American Oil Company) and the King's defense team in case of invasion, rebellion, sabotage or the moon dropping from the sky. The king had it covered.
We used to conjecture that the king then (King Fahad..we used to call him "Fat Fahad") paid for it with his POCKET CHANGE. Back in the mid-1980s the KING himself, who owned and still owns ALL THE PETROLEUM and NATURAL GAS, made a lot of money.
The King HIMSELF, personally in 1980 money made: ONE BILLION U.S. dollars every two and a half days. It is estimated that the Saudis have another 200 years of reserves. Just an estimate.
Yikes!
