Which Roman emperor does Obama most resemble, with respect to conduct and actions?
Top 10 worst Roman Emperors. List verse.com ^ | 05/09/10

In the West, Imperial Rome begins in 27BC with the reign of Augustus and ends in 476 with Romulus Augustulus. Throughout this period, we can find good, mediocre and horrible rulers. America has often been compared to Rome, and today, like Rome, we see the transformation of our country from a republic to something closer to a dictatorship or autocracy. I know that many Freepers are Roman history bufffs, so we should come up with a pretty convincing consensus view.

Augustus Honorus (a.k.a “Augustulus” meaning little penis). Augustulus was the last Roman emperor. The Ostrogothic king Gaeseric paid him a bribe to abdicate without naming a successor.

I couldn't resist buying the delightful dramatization of I, Claudius, starring Derek Jacobi (and many others, including John Hurt and even Patrick Stewart as Tiberius' dreaded enforcer Sejanus) on DVD, a few years ago.

Watched originally as a mini-series installment of "Masterpiece Theater," back in the late '70's. Worth every penny.

Be it ever so humble, there is no place like home. Nero was
The emperor ,the palace was his home.
But he liked to play with matches and so the fire burned.
Nero burned Rome down to ashes, and fiddled while
It burned.

I saw it also. It encouraged me to read I, CLAUDIUS, a great book. I wish I could find a good copy of it and CLAUDIUS THE GOD which I have not read.

I enjoyed the diddys the guards sang when Tiberius lost his Legions under Varius.

I’ve read Tacitus’ histories and find politics to be just as brutal then as now. The only difference is the disgraced Senators today do not go home and open a vein.

Another candidate is Romulus Augustulus as portrayed by Swiss playwright Friedrich Dürrenmatt in Romulus the Great: An Unhistorical Play in Four Acts. Proclaiming "I amn Rome's jidge," Romulus, the last emperor of the Western Roman Empire seeks to bring about its fall in order to atone for the evil it perpetrated on the world over the previous centuries.

He begins as Julian the Apostate and will end as a combination of Nero and Caligula.

He is still in his Julian phase right now.

As far as my studies take me I know of no member of the black race that was ever the leader of an empire or super power. That is, other than Obama. Most African nations have average IQ’s in the 70’s or 80’s....

You are basically correct. Here's an interesting read on the subject:

Erectus Walks Among Us

It's long and it's not PC but it's worth a look if for no other reason to try to pick it apart.

In this order:

Julian the Apostate

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_(emperor)

Nero

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nero

Caligula

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caligula

He will end as another Caligula, but it won’t be until the very end of his reign.

My top picks are Nero, Commodus, Caligula and Tiberius, although Elagabalus coud be a compelling pick.

I vote for Elagabalus.

It's interesting to note how Elagabalus finally ended up:

....members of the Praetorian Guard attacked Elagabalus and his mother:

So he made an attempt to flee, and would have got away somewhere by being placed in a chest, had he not been discovered and slain, at the age of 18. His mother, who embraced him and clung tightly to him, perished with him; their heads were cut off and their bodies, after being stripped naked, were first dragged all over the city, then the mother's body was cast aside somewhere or other while his was thrown into the [Tiber].

Following his assassination, many associates of Elagabalus were killed or deposed, including his lover Hierocles. His religious edicts were reversed and the stone of Elagabal was sent back to Emesa. Women were again barred from attending meetings of the Senate. The practice of damnatio memoriae—erasing from the public record a disgraced personage formerly of note—was systematically applied in his case.
