Someone recently posted a picture of a group of young marijuana smokers ‘semi’ passed out on a sidewalk in Detroit, MI. One was a well dressed attractive blonde girl. It reminded me of pictures of heavy drinking youth passed out on the pavement in Great Britain, where they are having a problem with drunk youth.

A recent article said that Detroit was ‘seeing’ 75 to 95 more people a night at homeless shelters since the marijuana law passed.

What also seems to be ignored is the effects of continuous non filter smoking of marijuana on the lungs.

A typical 40 year old marijuana smoker will have the same damaged lungs of a chronic 65 year old cigarette smoker........

We have a friend who son was a great student in high school, was a really good ultimate fighter, and had a good part time job. Then he went to college. Colorado state u in Ft Collins. Before pot was legal he grew pot for medicinal purpose with a friend. He dropped out of school and was high always. He lived in the mountains alone for a while and would call his sister saying he was being watched by CIA, NSA, aliens..... He moved back to Denver and grows pot again. His dad is trying to get him to move to South Dakota with him, but he won’t. He’s now into eastern religions, metaphysics,...... He’s so lost. He was such a good kids the college and pot ruined him. I still pray he finds the truth in God.

Didn’t we have that same study with the same results some 40 years ago?

seeing more of this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabinoid_hyperemesis_syndrome

Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome

Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome is a disorder that is characterized by recurrent nausea, vomiting and colicky abdominal pain. These symptoms have been reported to be alleviated temporarily by taking a hot shower or bath or more permanently by abstaining from the use of cannabis. The syndrome was described by Allen and colleagues (2004), and Sontineni and colleagues (2009) who offer simplified clinical diagnostic criteria.[1][2] A subsequent, larger study reported a case series of 98 subjects with cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, confirming the earlier reported findings.

This explains contemporary American politics: The Left is brain damaged.

The research team included experts from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School helped reach their conclusion by comparing MRI images from the brains of 20 recreational pot smokers (who smoke around 11 joints per week) and the brains of 20 non-users.

A more realistic study would have used people who smoke two to three small hits a day out of pipe, bong, or vaporizer, which collectively add up to about one joint a week. I don't know anyone who smokes joints, let alone eleven joints a week.

I would also like to know if any of the big pharmaceutical companies helped fund the study.

Absolutely true. Pot mimics actual human things..like love and other emotions. In the meantime the brain areas that actually generate these things atrophy from lack of use. That’s why we say stoners are “burned out” if they’re not smoking pot. They are emotionally and spiritually dead individuals.

I tend to agree that there is a tendency to conflate what policy should be and what prudence should dictate.

The “war on drugs” has been an unmitigated disaster i.e. horrible policy.

I think occasional use of pot is probably fine but in many cases occasional use leads to chronic use.

Chronic use of marijuana is occasionally (and apprarently) well tolerated but much more often leads to all sorts of ill effects and often means a person ceasing to be a highly functioning individual.

In short decriminalize it and stay away from it is my take.

Why is this seen as a negative? Perhaps having larger nucleus accumbens and amygdalas, is a good thing?
