I don't either. Here's what FrontPageMag wants us to accept: Foley didn't like Assad. Therefore Foley was an anti-Assad terrorist sympathizer.
And since the anti-Assad terrorists believed in ethnic cleansing, Foley must have believed in ethnic cleansing.
No evidence of that was provided. The best you can say about such an argument is that it's sloppy and illogical. However, it's more likely that the article was meant to be deceptive.
A hell of a lot of people, even on FR are and have been anti Assad. Unfortunately Obama waited too damn long and the evil was able to take over much of the anti Assad group. Same damn thing happen in Egypt with the Muslim Brotherhood.
I think it’s entirely reasonable to point out that in the Assad vs. ISIS war, both sides are terrorists. Assad was, until he got too busy at home, a major supporter of terror against the United States and the West in general.
ISIS happens to be more spectacular and flamboyant. Arguably they are a greater threat in the long run.
But that doesn’t make Assad into a democrat or someone we have anything in common with except an enemy.
Possibly we’ll wind up allying ourselves, if only informally, with Assad and Iran to defeat ISIS. But let’s not make the mistake we did in WWII and deceive ourselves that because we ally ourselves with somebody out of expedience he is therefore really a great guy.
