Man had agreed to marry woman based on photograph
An Egyptian groom ran away from his bride just after she arrived at a Saudi airport after he was shocked at how she looked.
The man had waited for hours at the airport to receive his bride whom he had married after seeing her photographs sent by his brother.
The Egyptian Arabic language daily Al Watan said the man in Saudi Arabia had agreed to marry the woman in the photograph.
When she arrived at the airport in Saudi Arabia, the groom instantly ran away after seeing her face. Security men chased the man and caught him after thinking he had stolen something, the paper said without naming the airport.
But he told them that he was shocked by his brides appearance and that he no longer wanted to be with her. The bride later filed for a divorce and compensation.
Well, she is an old Arab.
His brother must have got quit a kick out of that. Oh yea her is her picture, Ha ha....
The story is very odd. He sent Holbein to paint her on instructions to be strictly accurate. The portrait still exists and shows an average girl, certainly not ugly.
Henry did not meet her until after the marriage contract and was immediately disappointed. He did, however go through with the marriage. He never consummated it and could not get past his initial disappointment. Henry later asked for an annulment.
More clever than beautiful, Anne readily consented. In gratitude he conferred estates on her, some of which were former Boleyn family estates. She was often at Court, where Henry treated her as his honored sister.
In those tumultuous times, she lived a comfortable and peaceful life.
Well, if it didn't actually happen, it should have.
Henry VIII should have went after Ann of Cleevage instead.
“His brother must have got quit a kick out of that.”
HA HA! Didn’t think of that!
Beat me to it. He said to Thomas Cromwell, "You have sent me a Flanders mare!"
Some sources say the issue with the picture was that the full-face view didn’t concealed how very large her nose was.
Take out the “didn’t.”
“In those tumultuous times, she lived a comfortable and peaceful life.”
Well that was pretty much a miracle! “Somewhere in her youth, or childhood, [she] must have done something good.”
Well, actually he didn't. It was declared a nullity, so there was never any marriage.
TTIUWP
Though I might regret them.
Nothing that a good pair of safety glasses can't deal with.
Should have kept the female Muslim head bag on until after the ceremony and then just blended in with the rest of the camels.
lol
Anne was also helped by a lack of interest in religion, unusual for that age. When Mary was on the throne she converted from Lutheranism to Catholicism. Princess Elizabeth, in contrast, came very close to trial for treason, which would have meant death.
If that was what caused Henry's displeasure, it may well have saved her life and assured her fortune!
white courtesy phone .LOL. Wonderfully funny:)
But Anne wasn’t like super ugly allegedly
Didn’t Henry bang her later anyhow?
Henry was a dog.
