This reminds me of when I was a kid we belonged to the FFA. We would show off our champion steers at the county fair. They were auctioned off at the end of the fair and grocery chains would bid up the prices to sell at their stores. We never made $100,000 but the prices were much higher then the standard price for beef. A certainly help fund our college education.
We buy one or two FFA pigs every year and we just bid $500 and take whatever we get.
I went to the county fair last Friday to attend the 4H auction... I didn’t stick around for the steer auction, but lambs were being bid up to $425/cwt and hogs $500/cwt.
