I was at the Grand Canyon this past March. When I was there, there was a guy that was getting his picture taken. He was purposefully leaning about 6” over the edge. A good gust of wind was all that it would have taken to push him over.

That was what impressed me the most about GC.
I figured in this modern era of pantywaist wimps, the fedgov would have built fences along every foot of canyonside.
But no, any idiot can walk right up and fall in, LOL. Very refreshing.

I take a commuter train. As the train was entering our station, I turned to notice a 30-ish man leaning over the edge of the platform with his arm outstretched, waving at the oncoming train. As if that wasn't STUPID enough, he was holding on to his 8-year-old daughter, who was also leaning out from the platform! I yelled at him, "That's incredibly stupid and dangerous!" He just gave me a goofy grin. Fortunately the engineer of the commuter train blasted his horn at this idiot father, and frightened by the loud sound, the two jumped back on the platform, in time, like a couple of feral animals startled by a sudden loud sound.
"Moron!" I said to myself. Takes all kinds...

I have seen others do that too at the Grand Canyon. People crawl over the barrier fences and get their picture taken while standing on the very edge. At Yellowstone I watched from my vehicle as a woman stopped her car in the middle of the road and walked toward a Grizzly bear to get its picture. She was lucky that the bear was still groggy from a cold winters hibernation and wasn’t interested in her.
