caww:" There should be two or more attending anyone who is dressing or undressing to make sure “human error” is at the very least."

Right from the Scout manual- the "Buddy System'.

The problem regarding Fed /DHS/NIH/CDC/State Health Dept. is that there is NO ONE PERSON coodinating resources.
The FED and CDC are givning out the :'Do Not Panic' message, and are minimizing Ebola to keep the all the borders open, per the PC montra.
*MSF maintains the 'buddy system' so that partners can watch each other; that way they can avoid contamination; has the same protocal been established by the CDC ?
* Health Care workers are rightfully concerned about the quality of their equipment and the ability to risk exposure; they see bio-Hazzard IV suits in Africa
Why aren't they avaiable to all health care professionals here (other than $$$) ?
At $500,000 per hospitalization for Ebola, that would pay for a lot of HAZMAT suits, and save money .
* The CDC in their bio-hazzard level IV labs have several decontamination zones (chemical/baths/UV/etc.) and they are trained by rote repetition to follow these exactly
are these same protocals and repetition available to current HCW , or do they just get a 15 minute slide presentation?.. That is a program designed to fail !!
Yes , you are right about the most serious risk of infectious being the deceased body since it is 'dead weight' and involves physical exertion by the medical staff.
* I read here that 'clean up' crews wore HAZMAT suits after a death in the room ; shouldn't that also be available to health care workers
who are exposed to the virus on several occassions each day, sometimes by more than one patient ?
This is no time to go CHEAP ! One hospitalization could buy approximately 50,000 HAZMAT suits.

A couple of thoughts on your post: we keep hearing about "hazmat" suits. As I understand "hazmat" is short for hazardous material. Do we make a distinction between hazardous material and hazardous waste? And more importantly, is there a distinction between a hazmat suit and a bio-hazard suit?

Secondly, I see the need, down the road, for dedicated decontamination personnel.

Interesting info. there TIK....

Well our dear leader just stated $200 million will be sent for “rebuilding Gaza”!........Let the dang Muslim nations rebuild Gaza and use that money to suite up our people for THIS crisis!

I truly believe this President is sending any and all monies we might ever hope to see ..abroad....and he’s dishing it out to third world nations like a dish full of candy!

I do understand there’s a problem with who is coordinating what in all areas..from HLS to CDC not to mention our Pres. gets info from his TV so he’s certainly not leading this charge nor more than he has any other.

But then this does happen when Government is so large nobody knows who they’re really working for...everybody wants to play King but nobody steps up to the plate.

I hear they can’t even find the Surgeon General...though he’s not been confirmed yet....you’d think he’d be steeping up to the plate but we have nobody handling OUR nations affairs that need handling now....

Sorry about the rant...just very frustrated as are most today.
