The Linux Mint 17 distro is the first one that I could get to run on the computer without a halt or a crash. I may actually install it. It does seem faster and simpler than Win 8.1.
Really? I wonder your crashes had to do with a driver for your hardware? In 10 years I’ve only had a handful of freeze-ups and only one “kernel panic”. No viruses.
I’ve had a whole lot of “glitches” where things just aren’t perfect. The screensaver and the audio settings have had nagging gotchas on and off for years.
The Linux desktop experience isn’t perfect but it is fast, stable and secure.
