Remember, these Dem’s parents and grandparents voted for FDR multiple times, despite how horrible the U.S. economy remained, 3 times. So 8 years wasn’t enough. If WWII hadn’t intervened, they’d have voted for him again despite the fact that the economy would have remained horrible. Plenty of people whose parents or grandparents voted for FDR are now Republicans, and plenty of people whose parents or grandparents voted for Hoover or Landon or Willkie or Dewey voted for Obama.

I'd cut the old folks a little slack. A lot of them didn't have any hope that things could get better.
