The seven-minute clip posted Saturday on YouTube shows an apparently lifeless Eric Garner, whose head droops to the side as at least eight cops stand nearby.
Cmon, guy, one cop says to Garner, the only thing on the video that suggests any of the officers was trying to help the Staten Island man. Breathe in, breathe out.
But Garner, on his side with his eyes closed, doesnt move at all even when the officer slaps him on the shoulder. The side of his head remains flat against the concrete, and his eyes never open.
At one point, another officer is seen taking a cell phone and a pack of cigarettes from 43-year-old Garners pants

So, do you think the cops should let everyone who resists or becomes combative go? I don’t.
This guy resisted arrest. He had a heart attack in the process. It happens. The choke did not cause his death.
I have already said, and will say again, this is what happens when you live in a socialist state like New York. I am not here to talk about socialist laws in socialist states. That is what America is turning into. They voted for it, Garner, if he voted, likely voted for every liberal democrat ever spawned.
That’s why they have, as you say, a brokeass city. I live in a democrat brokeass city. I know what it’s like though I did not vote liberal. I see it here every day.
I don’t give a rats what the crime was, if they had enough to arrest him he should have complied and had his day in court. Afterward he could have filed a lawsuit. He contributed to his own death.
Where I work you are allowed to put your arm around someones neck to control them. Rendering them unconscious is now at the deadly force level. That’s because of stories like this, ‘Choke hold kills man.’ The media has been telling that lie for years because it involves minorities.
Your opinion. And since I’ve already been right about the choke not causing his death, well.
like i said, they don't prosecute pot because of the cost to benefit ratio so a little discretion should have been in order here
i'll ask again, do YOU think it's a wise use of city funds and resources when the city is damn near insolvent??? or is it even remotely possible the cop was out of line and should have left him alone???
If their policy is like ours, placing your arm around someones neck for control is not a ‘choke’ and not against policy. A choke is rendering someone unconscious. We were allowed to control somebody by placing our arm around their neck. Watching the video I never saw the guy ‘go out.’
This guy was much bigger than both those cops. 6-3, 350. That is going to play into the investigation. As I said before, the video is going to favor the police, it clearly shows the guy resisting a lawful arrest (whether those here like it or not)and the guy never goes out from the neck restraint.
My prediction is the city will likely fire the cop for show, may even charge him but he will get his job back. If he still wants it. And that’s not because of the union, what he did was likely within policy.
I have no idea what the solvency of New York city is. Do I think they are going to go broke having this guy go to court for what he did? No. He has 31 prior arrests and I believe he was arrested for the same thing at least once before. The city never told the cops: ‘hey, don’t arrest for that chicken shi7 charge.’
In fact, I read in the article that what the guy was doing was considered a “quality of life” issue. Meaning the city fathers probably told the police dept. they needed to clean up the city from issues like this one.
The city likely told PD, PD likely told their cops to make the arrests.
Is it wise? Everybody praised ‘America’s Mayor’ for cleaning up all the panhandlers, window washers, etc. after General Dinkins ruined it, I’m sure there were some arrests made there. Those were the same “quality of life” issues.
You tell me. You want a Dinkins NY or a Guiliani NY?
to me quality of life crimes are broken windows and garbage and graffiti and open air prostitution and drug dealing, as for the bums and squeegee guys-they could be shot on sight and it wouldn't bother me, but a guy selling the random smoke, not so much
I wonder what his other 31 arrests were for? I’m guessing they are not all selling ‘loosies.’ sounds like a guy you wouldn’t want in your neighborhood? I don’t think I’d want him in mine, I’ve got enough of them now.
I hear ya on the millstone, my city is ruined from liberal democrat policies. Unfortunately half the bought-off, entitlement Americans want the millstone and now they seem to have the upper hand.
Perhaps they cut off his blood supply to his brain for too long?
Actually Im tired of people on this website who paint all cops with the JBT paint brush when its not true. Haters.
That's a pretty typical broad brush painting of your own. I don't hate all cops. I hate the ones that kill civilians for no other reason than they can get away with it. And, because of them, I no longer give cops the benefit of the doubt.
There was a story posted that, for the first time in its history, more than 50% of NYC's budget would be going for pensions and salaries.
He should have complied and later sued if he had a legitimate case, after all, it was all on video right?”
Oh, I've no doubt the city of New York will be sued. Officer Daniel Panteleo has a history. He has had two lawsuits brought against him in the last two years, and the NYPD has already paid an undisclosed amount of cash out, because of Panteleo’s stupidity.
The two cases that Panteleo was sued for, all charges were dismissed in both, and one lawsuit is currently pending. This will be the THIRD time Panteleo has messed up, and he is going to cost the city a big chunk of money. He's become quite a liability to the city of New York. Some cops just don't know how to leave people alone. The people pay for it, one way or another. I suspect Panteleo will have plenty of time to hang out with people on the street once he's unemployed. Maybe he can learn how to be a polite human being... but I doubt it.

The difference is, all those others don't have a phony "Internal Affairs" to whitewash their crimes and a union that will back them to the hilt.
the video of the man being taken down tells the whole story then it was murder by cop.

It looked just like a discovery channel special on life in the Serengeti.
A pack of hyenas Circle the water buffalo, one makes the first move to take him down in the other ones jump in. The only thing that was missing Was none of the cops try to eat his spleen or liver and bite into him after the kill.
The man was an entrepreneur providing people what they want. The real criminals are Bloomberg and anti-smoking zealots and liberal politicians who made the price of cigarettes Cost more than a Montecristo cigar or a glass of Johnny Walker blue. All so that the poor people who they claim to love couldn’t afford what they want. I know that Liberals love poor people, because they work so hard to make more of them.
Eric Garner deserved a Ticker tape parade down main street And a medal. All of the news stories focus only on how he died. Chokehold, whatever.
Statists, leftists, social engineering progressives will never look at the reason why he was stopped or questioned to begin with. Their own public policies. Make cigs $14/pack in your city. While people are unemployed and you can buy a pack for $4 in other states.
What could possibly go wrong?
In fact, I read in the article that what the guy was doing was considered a quality of life issue. Meaning the city fathers probably told the police dept. they needed to clean up the city from issues like this one.

You are right. The cops didn’t write the stupid laws. They are just sent out to enforce them.
The police are like the gorillas in the movie “planet of the apes”.
They are the Luca Brasi muscle.
The criminal masterminds like Lex Luther are in government.
