Died from being in a chokehold... so it comes down to being strangled by cops. We don't know what he died from because an autopsy hasn't been performed yet. He could have been asphyxiated or he could have had sudden cardiac arrest. A black man his size has a high chance of having an enlarged heart which would put him at risk for sudden death.
