Chinese writer Yuan Ren lifts the lid on so-called 'yellow fever': a well-peddled myth that Asian women make better sexual lovers than other women, while at the same time, having no meaningful presence in politics and popular culture
By Yuan Ren 01 Jul 2014 Ever heard of yellow fever? No, not the disease you can pick up when travelling to certain countries. I'm talking about when Caucasian men develop an acute sexual preference for East Asian women even becoming a fetish, for some.
Naturally, there are dating websites aplenty dedicated to 'serving' those men who have yellow fever, where the average East Asian women is increasingly being perceived as a desirable partner.
In fact, the most recent figures from 2.4 million users of Facebook dating apps showed a clear skew in preference for women of East Asian descent by men of all racial groups, except, ironically, Asian men.
As a Chinese, single woman in the UK - where I have rarely come across racism my East Asian friends and I have encountered a fair share of men with telltale signs of yellow fever. But it's subtle, and of course, few would admit to surfing online dating sites for Chinese women, yet when the only girls they date are Chinese, then the probabilities are in their favor.
Having said that, I'm surprised at what British men, both young and old, generally get away with when talking about East Asian women (Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc.) as well as South East Asian women (Vietnam, Thailand etc.)

“Its a trap.”
Not nearly as much as American women are...it’s all a probability game. For a real (as opposed to sham) marriage, the odds are MUCH HIGHER for success with an immigrant that still has traditional values, than an American whose friends and familiy yell DIVORCE the first time the girl has a complaint. Just better odds, and much of that is due to who’s around them.
She loves his hunting and fishing and everything else, they have been a perfect match.
He's invited me to northern Michigan for their annual Phillipino picnic on July 26, obviously trying to match me up with a single gal.........LOL!
There’s a perception that American women are spoiled, slovenly, conniving, self-centered, arrogant, and just generally a pain in the ass to be around. In other words, they followed the Hillary model. I’d have to say it’s true in a frightening percentage of cases. Must have something to do with 30 years of girls being raised to believe they are oppressed, entitled, and that they can do no wrong. That said, I prefer eastern European women and latinas to most Asians (with a huge exception being made for Filipinas).
KC has dibs on her. :p
Long hair or short, dark hair or blonde.... she can pull it all off. Dressed up or casually frumpy she still looks great, even when selling banana milk.
If he was, he'd be saying oh ship, what did I do?
Bought tickets really really in advanced didn't you?
What a cutie! Hey, does anyone know where Laz has been? Is he still posting here?
Actually no, I'm happily single........
My girlfriend is Filipino and does NOT like Filipino men because they generally adopted Latin machismo and assume they have a right to be philanderers. She thinks American men treat women better than Filipino men do, on average.
“Eddieeeeee......I want to talk to yooooooooooo.........I’m an American woman now, I want what’s coming to me.....What have you done for me lately?...............HALF!”
Eunjung can really act too. She has been in several shows and films. Her stupid and clueless face is precious.
if you have to ask, you don’t have any idea...
lol.
Good for you. This generation of Koreans are as materialistic as Americans, although generally more polite and respectful than Americans.
come to think of it... I haven’t seen Laz in a while.
his last post was apparently on Thursday
I think she and Dong-Wook would make a good couple but I wish he would have stepped up for her over that bogus controversy. He was way too diplomatic. Just my opinion of course.
