I did get one possum early one morning with a steel toed boot to its gut.

I am positive I couldn't do that. I don't mind shooting them because to me it feels kind of impersonal..
boot to gut direct action...personal

aiming, pulling trigger, crack noise, "oh look, there's a dead animal"
To my wussy self, that seems like an indirect action..impersonal.

I was on my way to work, and the possum was under the pear tree eating a fresh pear. I wore steel toed boots and that was all I had to get it. Kicked it into the road like a football.
