Nice generalization to supports your MAC religion. Guess what, I am very happy with the PCs I've owned and I get to build them, too. Build any MACS lately? I know MAC users think they're on the cutting edge but you have to take whatever Apple sells you and like it. How hard is it to upgrade the motherboard on a MAC to extend its life, oh, that's right, you can't, you get to buy a new machine.
I used to build my own electronic gear -- and I built a few hot rods, too.
Now, aside from the restoration I'm doing on the Formula "S" Barracuda I ordered set up for road racing in 1965, I buy cars that will make the 22 mile round trip to town on country roads in comfort and with good mileage and reliabilty. IOW, mainly, I choose to be a "car user", nowadays.
As I pointed out to dennisw, the first two words in my comment were, "Mac users" (not "Mac hobbyists")...
A lot of people have. Go take a look at tonymacx86.com for instance.
