So funny to read the comments about Joan Rivers. When did we become such wusses about comedy? Jeeze, before Joan, there was Phyllis Diller and before her, Mae West etc., and yes, their in-person stand-up shows were much more raw, as with most comedians. Phyllis, then Joan, had a tough row to hoe when they were starting out. People weren't only appalled at what they said, but also at the fact that a woman was going toe-to-toe with tough-guy comedians. Negative publicity doesn't phase these women - it's a badge of honor and a sign they're hitting a nerve saying what most are thinking and quite frankly, doing their job well.
