LOL
I don’t think we do.
Look, I thought we wuz friends.
I love soccer and sick of the bashing it gets here, and especially on the basis of ignorant argument and knowledge (the socialist argument being the classic and utterly ironic nonsense example). A lot of which simply becomes Brit and Euro bashing.
I am sanding up for it and am firing back at American or Canadian sports I think are rubbish.
People need to learn to tae it as much as they dish it out.
There are plenty of fans of soccer here - why they even spell it “futbol.” Always remember, I don’t think of soccer as a British sport with handsome chaps from Downton Abbey or, better yet, The Go-Between. I think of it as a sport full of undersized Spanish guys biting and faking injuries. I just don’t like it, I also think it I completely un-American, and if I can get an amusing shot in at it, I will. That’s Free Republic!
We would be friends if you would just drop the “irony” thing. Since most your compatriots don’t know the difference between irony and sarcasm, your use of it is rather pointless. Why don’t you link to culture in Great Britain? Food! Plays! Books! Now that’s something to tip your hat to.
