"People like different sports for various reasons. Do people love golf because they hate America ... because you know golf is from Scotland?"
I have never heard a golf fan praise golf simply because it originated in Scotland rather than America, or because it was more popular somewhere else than in America, but I have heard a lot of soccer fans make those judgments, and as I watch my local MLS soccer team, it is obvious that many of the fans have patterned themselves after European fans, e.g., we have British announcers, use British terminology, give the teams European-sounding names, and use European-style chants and songs.

Good one, dude! Very good.

Yeah the Euro-sounding names were a little over the top, I agree. But still much better than having a "committee" or a "vote" choose your team's name (anyone ever notice that the choice unfailingly turns out to be gay-sounding?). I mean, Lansing Lugnuts? (Midwest League baseball).
But as far as the chants go, the Euro versions simply are superior. Seriously, how many times does one need to hear someone chanting the word "defense" over and over again?
