"Soccer - a transplanted euroweenie non-sport, where little Sara can play with little Johnny and no one gets hurt and everyone gets a trophy."
Well, if the number of injuries that occur is a measure of the greatness of a sport, let's hear it for Russian Roulette and 1950's auto racing (20% fatality rate in 1950's F1, a death or two at Indy almost every year). But, in fact, serious injuries - broken legs, broken ankles, broken arms, tendon injuries - are not rare in soccer. But, yeah, everybody gets a trophy, although that may now also be happening in other little league sports.

I would rather have teeth pulled, than watch kick ball. That’s just the way it is.
