I pay a little attention to bears, and something that I have read about black bears versus Grizzlys, that is disturbing, is that black bears are more likely to stay with the attack once it starts, and finish you off.
Yikes, and black bears have been spotted a few towns over in IL now. I’m fine with the fox family that lives next door and the occasional Coyote running through the field, but I’m not looking forward to the bears reaching our backyard.
Don’t believe that about grizzlies. I’ve spent a lot of time hunting out of fly in camps in grizzly country. A two year old grizzly will kill the biggest black bear in the country, if you are hunting black bears, and run across a griz, you head somewhere else to hunt, as they will kill them or run them off.
The locals are wary of grizzlies, but are as fearful of black bears as they are raccoons, that’s all I need to know. Get between a sow grizzly and her cubs, and your life insurance better be paid up.
