The plan also calls for offsetting the tax increases with other taxes cuts. Which Republican "leadership" will bargain away in the name of "bipartisanship". Clearly Corker is not running for re-election.

The GOP sure deserves its reputation as the stupid party. First, PA Governor raises gas tax in an election year, after promising not to raise taxes (read my lips, anyone?), and is getting a whooping in the polls. Now Corker is proposing a federal increase. Aren’t we paying enough for gas?
