I felt the US team did good for being an average team. They beat one of the better teams in Africa which nobody expected. Hopefully as the sport is becoming more popular, more money will be in it which means more infrastructure for finding and cultivating talented players. Hell, if US can beat Portugal (unlikely but one can hope) they may even live to escape the group of death they put us in.
We did get pretty beat up by Ghana, and we escaped because they didn’t have people who could finish chances. They outhustled us and beat us to almost every loose ball, however they had also a very porous defense that allowed us to score 2 goals out of maybe 3 chances we had all game. All in all, we may just need to tie Portugal and not get too embarrassed by Germany to move out of the group (assuming Germany beats Ghana).
