They do happen every day. We can see them and they are wonderful. Check that old moon tonight. Very bright at about 40 degrees up. Lights off and the house has a bright glow.

The moon is the perfect size and the perfect distance from earth to create tides that are not so large as to disrupt life, but enough to cleanse near shore environments and all of the tidal life.

Life that may not even be around if no moon. The moon acts as a stabilizer on how we rotate around the poles. Otherwise the earth would have huge shifts on how we rotate. Vertical rotation and we would have no changes in seasons. Horizontal rotation and seasons would change every day.

Oh - and our days would just be 6 hours long.

And I think God put the moon at the perfect size and distance so we could experience the joy and wonder of a total eclipse of the sun just for fun. (Yes - the sun also has to be at the perfect size and distance too.)
