I’m not sure I would care for a whole concert of Hornsby. Although the musicians I know think he is a master.
I did, however, see him in concert with Bonnie Raitt a number of years ago. He accompanied her on several songs.
When they did “I Can’t Make You Love Me”...her voice was so pure and his playing was so soulful...it nearly brought me to tears.
If you ever want to experience true beauty, try to find Hornsby and Branford Marsalis playing the Star-Spangled Banner on the night Cal Ripken broke Lou Gehrig’s record. I couldn’t find it quickly, but it’s gotta be out there somewhere.
