I think Brazil is in trouble.

Suffice it to say, the power has shifted largely to Europe. Brazil use to look like the team to beat always, now not so much. But their team is always nonetheless very good. It still takes a Herculean effort to knock them out of a World Cup. For the record, since 1986, France defeated them 3 times, Netherlands were able to survive them in 2010.

I’ve been saying for years that for the most part, Brazil now really plays no differently from the very good European teams. The 82 World Cup was the last time we saw the unique “beautiful game” style of play that Brazil was so famous for. A pity. They’ll still be very tough to beat at home though.
