A couple says they were told not to come back to a restaurant in East Texas because they’re gay.
In the town of Pittsburg, Texas, Big Earl’s Bait House and Country Store is an institution. So Collin Dewberry and his partner Kelley decided to have breakfast there. He says everything seemed to be going fine until they paid their check and were approached by their waitress on the way out.
“She told them the rules are on the door and it says ‘Welcome to Big Earl’s where men act like men, women act like ladies, no saggy pants and we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.’”
“And so I laughed and I asked what do you mean?” says Dewberry. “And that’s when she said to us… ‘to put it plainly, we don’t serve fags here.’”
Big Earl Cheney, the owner,says the reason Dewberry and his partner were asked not to return was because of their actions.
“What I saw was one of them half way under the table with his legs stretched out into the other guy’s lap. And he kind of looked really possum eyed at me as they say it in East Texas, he kind of looked at me like ‘uh-oh’.”
Cheney says he refuses to admit the couple back into his restaurant.
He continued, “I’m not gonna have people coming in here with their butt showing; I’m not gonna have people coming in here naked; I’m not gonna have people coming in here having sex on the tables.”
Dewberry maintains they were doing nothing wrong and were discriminated against.
“Nobody deserves to be treated disrespectfully at an establishment that just seconds ago accepted their money.”

They probably should have told them that before they served the fags and charged them for the meal.
“They were completely unprofessional. We took our night crawlers and shiners and left, sausage gravy on our breath and broken hearted at our deplorable treatment. We shan’t procure any of Big Earl’s bait again, indeed we expected so much more.”

Couldn't they read? If they saw the sign on the door and proceeded to mess around with each other anyway, they probably already had a "rights" lawyer on speed dial.

You mean, possibly, that the claim of the waitress calling them "fags" may backfire if the waitress didn't really call them "fags"?
Until people fight back and others come to their aid, without fear, we are headed for another Nazi go-around. Homosexuals headed up the first version and the tactics are the same. And quickly advancing up the scale of forcefulness. The outcome will be too.
Agreed. Especially since this is Texas we're talking about. In almost 30 years of living in, and travelling throughout the south, I've never heard, or even heard of, a waitress in an at least minimally respectable establishment saying something like this.
Sounds to me like something liberals think that conservatives say, on a daily basis. Lots of imagination happening there.
Now in NYC, on the other hand....this would pass for polite banter. :-)
Yep. The gays did the same thing in Colorado. Looked for a bakery then sued them into oblivion.
Agree with you.....unless these two guys were acting out, who would even know they were “gay”?
As others have said, probably a lot of info etc left on the ‘cutting room floor’.
Owner probably would/could have saved himself a lot of grief by just meeting them at the cash register, PERSONALLY taking the check, taking them aside, lodging his ‘complaint’ with the couple, then say
“This one is on ME, but You will NOT be allowed to come back, due to your actions”.
Then again, the best publicity is the free publicity and you can imagine all the ‘straight people’ in that part of the world that had never heard of Big Earls, have now.
Something tells me there are a lot more of US there than THEM.
That would be the ideal expression of a community's standards, and I hope they do it. But when the sodomites have the implicit backing of an out-of-control dictatorial federal government, that emboldens them and cows many otherwise staunch defenders.

They came in itching for fight. No gay guys go into a restaurant named that and act that way and not be looking for trouble.
As is often said: “Don’t mess with Texas, baby!”
And I hope every one of them gets their asses kicked up around their shoulders. Until real men are willing to stand up to this kind of crap we're just going to keep getting it shoved in our faces. Time to put a stop to it!
