You can buy Keurig style cups that are refillable.

Best of both worlds, much reduced cost, and the simplicity of the system.

Downside—needing to periodically make up a batch of cups.

Upside—ability to sample many types of ground beans, etc.

Since there is a Keurig machine at my work, I have decided to buy a small quantity of refillable cups, make my own supply at home, and try them at work.

If that works out, come home and impose that upon my sweet bride of 46 years.

There is at least one good way to use instant coffee ... making a special coffee flavored ‘faux ice cream’. Freexe two bananas cut into one inch chunks. Pour the chunks into a food processor, with two tablespoons of French vanilla creamer (liquid, Nestlé’s) and one heaping teaspoon of instant coffee. Churn the stuff until the motor starts to struggle and serve. Delicious!
