Since the Apple store is four hours away, there may be certified Apple techs who work at other computer repair shops. Make sure they are Apple certified. The shop I use does work on both PC and Apple computers. Check you yellow pages.

He said you should google this stuff, but here ya go....

Get the specs, as you’ve been told here. You’ll need the Mac OS10 DVD that came with the box. If you have it, insert it into your drive and restart. Once you restart, when you hear the chime, hold down the option key. Keep it help down. It will give you the option of booting into the DVD, do that.
