I know of another case were a man was held in the Mexican Prison system for some 5 months
after crossing the border with some 200 rounds of ammo in his vehicle. It took some five
months to get him out of Mexico and another month to clear the Feds system. Gov. Perry
issued a Texas Pardon in 2003.
There is a petition drive to try to help this Marine but don’t know if they can secure
the 100,000 signatures needed by the end of May.
....Meanwhile, a petition drive has been launched to spur President Obama’s intervention
in the case. In order for the White House to automatically look into the case, 100,000
signatures must be gathered by May 31. As of Tuesday, there are about 30,000 signatures
attached to the petition....

The Mexicans are undoubtedly hoping for palms to be greased (mordida; literally “to bite,” but meaning bribe). As soon as that happened he’d be on his way, minus his guns of course.
