Geez, where do you both live?
A weekly flyer in our paper today has bacon for $3.49/pound. Yes, a pound is 16 ounces.
I live outside Houston. Haven’t seen bacon for $3.49/pound for several months now. Every now and then one of the stores around here will have it on a loss leader special at $4.50 or $5.00 but it’s an “off brand”, real fatty, they don’t advertise it and it’s the new 12 ounce pound.
They did have the large containers of Folgers last week though for $4.50 and I bought four, which was the max you could get. Went back later in the day and tried to buy four more but it was rejected at the register as my “card history” said I had already purchased four that day. So went back the next day and it was back up to the $9.99 price.
I'm in central Maryland. The "cheap" fatty bacon is at least $6.50/lb. maybe a little less on sale. The decent stuff is upwards of $8/lb.
The cheapest milk is at Costco for just over $3/gallon. At the grocery it will run you $4.20 at regular price.
I was thrilled to get chicken thighs & drums at $.99/lb. last week. Stocked up!
