Apple prices are a good indicator of food price sticker shock. Since when is $2.00 + per pound acceptable?

part of the reason Honey Crisps are so expensive is that they are very popular where they are freshly available. The other reason is that they have to be cut, not pulled from the tree to ensure the stem stays on the apple.

I live in NW WA where we get them straight from the farm from August until January. They are by far the best tasting apple.

Saw some in a store in Texas and they sucked, which is weird because they only require cold storage to keep for a long time.
