Governor of the Odessa region, Vladimir Nemirovsky blamed police for what happened in the city earlier today.
He wrote on his Facebook page:
"Today's casualties in Odessa could have been avoided. The only thing that law enforcement officers had to do was not to have trade off their homeland, their conscience, but stay true to the oath to the Ukrainian people" - he wrote.
"If police had complied with the request of the Odesa region administration, and didnt get involved in diplomacy, today would have been different. For most of them, as always, first, was not their country, but their own personal comfort. Shame.
Two hours earlier, Nemirovsky had emphasized that "actions by Odesa citizens, to neutralize and arrest armed terrorists are considered legitimate".
As was reported earlier, during the march by the Odesa and Kharkiv soccer fans (who are noted for their patriotism and support of the united Ukraine) they were attacked by the "separatists" armed with bats and guns.
Four people were killed in this clash.
After this, the crowd advanced on and destroyed the separatist camp on Kulikovo Pole, while separatists had barricaded themselves in the Trade Union Building located near-by.
During the confrontation, the building was set on fire and activists burned the tents belonging to the separatists.
As a result of the fire in the Trade Union Building, 38 people were killed.
Yes I sit here in Michigan, a 74 year old pissed off
redneck, and so upset, I’d go there and help them
out if it was possible.....
And our government has criminally destroyed our
military so it can’t even save 4 people in an embassy.....
Ukraine is one of few special places worth saving from
being subjected to russian or any other’s slavery........
There are things that stick in a man’s craw, that bother
worse than the thought of death...Ed
This is like saying, cheering on our founding fathers in this nation in their historical "murdering" of their "political opponents," namely, the British army sent by a hostile tyrant, is a symptom of a violent fantasy.
If you want me to feel bad that 90 percent of the dead folks in Odessa are the Kremlin-stooges, you would first have to explain to me your explanation for why the Ukrainian people have no right to defend their own country from hostile invaders.
I'll also add that this is the first real straight-up fight the Ukrainians have been allowed to have! Most of the deaths by the Russian GRU and their stooges have been of the kidnapping, torture, and dump in the river variety, of unarmed people. That is how cowards kill, and cowards die when patriots rise up and smash them.
