What is the general average speed for this race for the restrictor plate? And why not let the cars race as fast as they are able?

Lap speed should be just under 200 mph, probably 194-196 range on new tires slowing during a run.

The lawyers have mandated thou shalt not exceed roughly 200 mph.

When this happened:

There was extreme fear about what might have been.

NASCAR engines are 360 cu. in. and make 800+ horsepower.

F1 racing, which allows higher technology, uses 100 cu. in. that make 700+ horsepower.

Apply that higher tech to NASCAR and the cars couldn’t look remotely like they do, or keep from becoming airborne.
