Read the story. It doesn't sound like she was forcing anything on anyone. She was who she was and it sounds like the whole town knew it and didn't have a problem with it because she didn't flaunt it and just did her job. It also appears that the mayor exceeded his authority by firing her and the majority of the city council are opposed to it. If she was some sort of flaming lesbian I doubt she'd have the support she has.
The article opens with the fact that she was openly “gay.” I’m sure she has a partner and is pushing for the overturn of the state’s marriage amendment - that’s what openly “gay” means to these people.
There were verifiable instances of dereliction on duty, probably the tip of the iceberg. The fact that there had been no reprimands is easily explained by suffocating political correctness which looks away from self-proclaimed grievance groups, lawsuit-prone territory.
Kudos to the new mayor, who apparently recognizes and proclaims the nakedness of the emperor.
If she happens to be an oathkeeper, and/or supports our 2nd amendment rights, etc., I'd be fine with having her as a police chief.
Sounds like the problem is with the new "mayor".
As long as they don't parade around mostly naked, flaunting it, I could care less about what a person does in the privacy of their own home, regarding homeysexuality.
