Actually, I hope such extra strength shower rods become popular, but for the reason of safety. Slipping and falling in a shower can be very injurious, and desperately clutching and tearing down a weak shower curtain rod just adds insult to to literal injury.

There already are a multitude of waist level grab bars designed to take weight or steady oneself, but not much at head or a little better height.

That would be a legitimate use. If people buy it for other reasons, that’s their business.
