Australia's most successful rock band AC/DC are thought to be retiring. Rumours surfaced on Tuesday morning that the band are set to split due to the ill health of one of their members, although it isn't clear as of yet who that member is or what the illness is. 3AW reporter Peter Ford told 2Day FM breakfast hosts Sophie Monk, Merrick Watts, Jules Lund and Mel B that 'we may never hear them perform or record again'.

sad news.
seen them in 3 different decades.
always a fun show.
I was 10 when the Beatles invaded.
The path to the past is strewn with mortality
Regardless the musical persuasion
Jazz, Rock, Country
Some gladly ‘sell their souls’ to traipse that path
Very sad. I hope he recovers enough to enjoy life, even if he can’t play.
LOL!!! How many of the women in that pic were groupies back in the 60s?
Malcolm ran the band onstage, what a solid unit they are. But, gotta say, having Angus take his shirt off and run down that long runway thing while his image was plastered on that huge screen was, uh, disturbing. He must be close to ten years older than me.
"Hey baby, you must've been something before electricity."
Malcolm and Angus always said that they learned a lot from older brother George. Judging by this video, I can see why he was such a great role model to them... beautiful guitar playing...
See post 45.
One of my favorite bands.
Angus smokes like a chimney so it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s having pulmonary trouble. I don’t think any of them drink.
Angus is a teetotaler, though, go figure.
The new ACDC is a pale copy of the old. Had a chance to see them in a small theatre in 79, could not get anyone to go with me, still regret it 35 years later not going.
After Bon Scott died, they were never able to capture my interest. Seemed to be more of a headbanger/screamer group instead of the nuance of earlier albums.
“Jail Break” ... Quite possibly THE best Rock song ever written.
There was a friend of mine on murder
And the judge’s gavel fell
Jury found him guilty
Gave him sixteen years in hell
He said “I ain’t spending my life here
I ain’t living alone
Ain’t breaking no rocks on the chain gang
I’m breakin’ out and headin’ home”
Gonna make a jailbreak
And I’m lookin’ towards the sky
I’m gonna make a jailbreak
Oh, how I wish that I could fly
All in the name of liberty
All in the name of liberty
Got to be free
Jailbreak, let me out of here
Jailbreak, sixteen years ah
Jailbreak, had more than I can take
Jailbreak, yeah
He said he’d seen his lady being fooled with
By another man
She was down and he was up
Had a gun in his hand
Bullets started flying everywhere
And people started to scream
Big man lying on the ground
With a hole in his body
Where his life had been
But it was all in the name of liberty
All in the name of liberty
I got to be free
Jailbreak, jailbreak
I got to break out
Out of here
Heartbeats, they were racin’
Freedom, he was chasin’
Spotlights, sirens, rifles firing
But he made it out
With a bullet in his back
Jailbreak, jailbreak
Jailbreak, jailbreak
Jailbreak, jailbreak
Jailbreak, jailbreak
Jailbreak, jailbreak
I read somewhere that all his headbanging over the years has had the cumlative effective of being a boxer for too long.
The lead singer lives in Florida and has been on Top Gear(UK). He seems like a likeable fella.
That's like saying I got SO laid last night ... tied it in a knot ... what FUN !
:)
The guy could sing, AC/DC in way covered up his vocal talent.
Don’t disagree necessarily with your points which are valid. However the other side of the coin is that music is all these people do. It’s their craft and their life. Mccartney and ringo still perform.
I always thought it was great how the beatles ended - having people begging for more. What I don’t understand is why these bands can’t keep the creative level going and keep going further instead of plateauing and deteriorating after they hit 30.
Jeff beck is an example of an act that just kept going and gets better with each year. But he seems to be an exception - with a few others.
