That’s a good explanation. I think in one of these last few games, there was actually a case where the opposing player was indeed standing behind the goaltender but per the definition the player and goaltender were not even in contact. When you look at the “crease”, the goaltender can indeed be at the top of it, skates on the redline, an opposing player could actually be behind him.
I’ve got a question. Are there own-goals in ice hockey as there are own-goals in soccer? I would be led to believe No. Last night a skate went off on a Blackhawk into his own goal but I see it was credited to the Minnesota Wild. Wild’s first goal:

So, I would say no. It seems to be a good law too. Players should usually not get blamed for own-goals in most cases, the puck or as in soccer, ball bouncing around and then goes into the net.
Sorry for the long post, though it would seem to make sense, you would have cases of an Own-Goal in hockey, a player has a puck slip off his stick and into his own net, things like this. I’m sure it has happened.
Silverberg hard check, boarding. I did not mind when the Ducks won the SC a few years ago and I thought the goalkeeper Giguere was a top goaltender and hard hits are a part of the game but I thought that team was a little too physical.
Either the last opponent player to touch the puck (or the closest?) would get credit ...
Ryan Suter, while trying to defend, kicked one into his own net for us one time and we called him Ryan Booter after that. I am still bitter about the way he left our team to be with his bestie, Parise, and that creep Leopold who had a fire sale and destroyed our team when he owned it, so he is forcing me to root for Chicago, which is painful.

Use to see this guy in Minnesota, Mike Peluso, played for the Devils, see him at the YMCA. I’m not a real extrovert so I nodded to him, I could never strike up a real rapport with him as opposed to some people who really cozy up to celebs or semi-celebs. He played for Chicago and New Jersey, he seemed to be a good guy and set up a restaurant that served “Chicago Dogs” and Chicago styled food and he named it for his brother who I believe a disease took early in life.
And Jacques Lemaire coached both the Wild and Devils. So, there’s more ways to look at it I guess.
It also seems it has happened that the team that sends it into OT wins. I don’t know if I like that, just seems it has happened that way.
So, I would think the Kings will take this. Ducks have played very well.
I don’t want to jinx this game but the goaltending is a joy to watch by both of them, I don’t want to say we might be here awhile....
Though Chicago is heavily favored, I certainly will cheer for the Wild, the refs were virtually trying to give the Avalanche that first series, with all due respect, you can check the calls out.

For “other” reasons, I’d prefer the Ducks match up with the Bruins in the Finals, but if LA keeps the magic going I’d pull for them the rest of the way.
BTW, the Conference Finals could consist of solely the last 4 Cup champions ...
Don Cherry seems to think that Crosby has been playing with a back injury.
a lot of questions about what injury Crosby is hiding.
But it’s one of those things that won’t be talked about by the Penguins while still in the playoffs.
He definitely doesn’t look 100%.
The rumor is that it’s a report put out by opposition scouts. It certainly explains why Crosby got cross checked in the back so much by Columbus. I’d like to see them put Malkin back on his right wing. That would open up some space for him.

Kunitz- Neal is the Penguins elite winger tandem. When they have Letang behand them, they’re on the ice for one thing only to score goals !
Henrik Lundquist's acrobatics in goal keep the NY Rangers in Game 2 in Pittsburgh well into the Third Period,
but a late PP goal by Jussi Jokinen followed by an empty-netter gives the Pens a 3-0 win to even the Series.
