Cop should be fired. Arresting a woman for walking on the wrong side of the road. What an idiot.

No, he tried to speak to her against dangerously being on the wrong side of the road. She was arrested when she attempted to flee.

Is it ILLEGAL in Texas to walk on “the wrong side of the road”? Was she on a limited access highway where pedestrians are prohibited? Where is the violation of STATUTE? If not then why chase and tackle someone?

The cop has the right to be there. He has the right to initiate a CONVERSATION with a citizen. The citizen is under NO obligation to participate in the conversation. The police have no authority to do anything about it absent reasonable suspicion of a crime.

This kind of crap leads to bad case law and bad relations with the public.

Flee from a man on a motorcycle screaming, "I want to talk to you." Why didn't the officer pull ahead, get off his motorcycle and do what he needed to do, AS HE HAS BEEN TRAINED TO DO?

The cop could have told her she was on the wrong side of the road as easily as he told her he wanted to talk to her.
He wanted more than to tell her she was on the wrong side of the road. That could have been done in 3 seconds.

She was arrested for Contempt of Cop.

Good thing I'm not in his jurisdiction, or I'd also be subject to arrest.

“Ma’am, did you know you are walking on the wrong side of the road? Let me pull out and watch for traffic so you can cross over”

why in the world wouldn’t a POLICE OFFICER just SAY that?

My hunch as a woman - he was trolling (just like she suspected) and got pixxed when she ignored him.

All he had to do was SAY LOUDLY, “Ma’am, you’re walking on the wrong side of the road, please for your safety, go to the other side”, thank you!

BTW: Is there a law about which side of a road one should jog on?

Back in the old days when people actually walked for miles down highways there was a sign every so often that read “Walk On Left Facing Traffic”. I wonder which side she was on.

No, he acted suspicious in how he approached her.

And her suspicion wasn’t unreasonable, since cops long ago proved themselves untrustworthy. Predatory and agressive behavior by cops is hardly unknown.
